Staying alive

Help is a long way off. Until you reach it, you live on what the land gives you and what you can make with your own hands.

The inventory: berries, canned food, clean water, cordage, dried fish and a flint knife
GatherWood, water, stones, plant fibre, and berries that hopefully won’t kill you. Every action you take costs time and daylight.
Researching a bow drill: the first question, which wood to use
Learn and craftWork out how to make what you need from what you have: cordage, a stone axe, a fishing spear, a way to start a fire.
A lean-to at night with a fire going, the Camp sheet open: add wood, cook
Keep warmGet under cover before dark and keep the fire fed through the night. Cold creeps in fast when it goes out.
The hunt and fish menu open beside a lake, a deer at the water's edge
Hunt and fishSet snares and fish traps and come back later, or go after something bigger with whatever weapons you are able to make.
A small log cabin at night by a river, one window lit and smoke from the chimney
Build shelterA lean-to keeps you out of the rain, mostly. Improve it when you have the time and the materials, or build a more permanent cabin that can keep out a storm.
The hex map, with a route picked through hills and forest
ExploreThe map is different every game. Head out to find food, better ground and a way home, and make it back to camp before the light goes.
A whiteout on bare hills, a radio mast half hidden in the snow

The weather turns, and a storm finds everything you left for tomorrow.

Locations

Two places to be stranded so far. More locations are on the way.

A red canoe capsized in rapids, a paddle washed onto the rocks

Norway

Without a Paddle

A river valley in August. The rapids took your canoe and your tent and left you on the bank with only your pack. The trekking lodge is days downstream.

Spruce hills under low cloud, an old timbered mine entrance on the slope

Canada

The Blackridge Claim

Autumn in the backcountry. Your ATV lies wrecked, miles from any road. Up in the hills is an old mining claim, and something happened there once.

A dark forest at night, mist between the trunks, a fire burned down to embers

Some nights, out past the firelight, there is something you cannot account for.

Are you really alone out there?
